Andrew built a media wall in our living room, including a faux chimney breast, floor-to-ceiling shelving and fitted cabinets. He also extended existing wall panelling in our converted garage where built-in units had previously been removed. The main carpentry work was good and the media wall was built as we had hoped. It feels solid, sturdy and well constructed. However, I was disappointed with the finishing work, particularly in the garage. Part of the agreement was to make the walls ready for decoration after the removal of units and electrical work, but the filling was rough, some filler came loose, and many areas had not been properly sanded. There were also noticeable gaps around the panelling and skirting, which remained untidy even after a return visit. The project was also not left particularly clean, with a significant amount of sawdust and debris remaining, especially in the garage. Overall, good construction work, but the finishing and details fell below expectations.

James did an outstanding job of fitting bespoke shaker-style wardrobes in our 100 year-old house, to replace some dated home-made wardrobes. We are absolutely delighted with the end result and with the high-quality hinges and fittings he has used, which give the doors and drawers a very smooth closing action. The wardrobes look beautiful and they have completely transformed the room. James was very pleasant to deal with and worked hard. We would absolutely recommend him.

The work included: knocking out part of a wall and creating a new ‘alcove’ area to enlarge one room, removing a door and making good the wall, re-plastering of ceilings and walls, laying new flooring, various electrical works and installation of a new radiator, plus numerous other little bits and pieces. Tony gave me good advice at the planning stage about the various jobs I wanted doing which ended up saving me considerable, unnecessary expense. The price was a fair one and came in on budget. Tony kept me fully informed at all stages. Tony’s team were friendly and helpful. The final result is lovely and well finished. For balance, the only negative was that the job did over run by a few days; however I must add that Tony and his team did their very best to catch up including working weekend days at no extra cost to me. I would not hesitate to use Tony’s services again, and, in fact, fully intend to.

After I received my level 2 I went self employed doing subcontracting and private work where I learnt a variety of different skills from making bespoke French doors with oak framing to fitting trussed roofing. I’m very confident in my experience and I’m always eager to learn from others or try things I’m not too knowledgeable in as I love a challenge. I’ve done most aspects of carpentry including A lot of Joinery, 1st and 2nd fix. I also started my career in construction as a ground worker where I learnt a few aspects from that as well such as Fencing, slabbing, trenching and curbing. I’m always looking for new things to do and have always been proactive on site. I work in and around the Bury st Edmund’s Area but no job is too far for the right money I say.
