Started in the building industry in 2012. I started as a labourer and worked my way up to be a bricklayer, I gained my NVQ level 2 in bricklaying in 2014. Experienced with building houses to a NHBC standard, extensions, commercial building etc nursing homes and steel erected building, stone work natural and bekstone and footings Strong knowledge of masonry techniques and materials Lay bricks and other materials to construct or repair walls, floors, chimneys, and other structures Use hand tools to shape bricks and remove excess mortar Cut bricks to size using power saws or hand tools Ensure that structures are level and plumb by using levels, plumb bobs, and string lines Repair or replace damaged bricks or blocks Ability to read blueprints or specifications Proficient in using hand tools such as trowels, hammers, and chisels Familiarity with power tools used in masonry work Excellent physical stamina and the ability to lift heavy objects Attention to detail and precision in bricklaying
