Poor workmanship + Unprofessional conduct. Main reasons: • Antony kept changing the brief and timeline of the job without giving any notice or reasons. The job took over a month instead of the agreed one week! • His technique for building the foundation was a touch unorthodox – mixing cement, ballast/sand, soil and mud directly into the foundation ditch. • When dismantling my garden wall he also damaged my neighbour’s wall. • He got caught disposing of hazardous waste onto my vegetable patch. • The wall he built is not straight. It has a bow in the middle. • The 9 inch garden wall has several rows (not at the foundation level) laid in a stack bond. It doesn’t look good and I’m told this is not a structural bond. • He trespassed – entered onto my land at the weekend without any notice or permission. • He took pictures of my house / garden as well as my neighbours houses / gardens and posted them online. • Despite being paid on time and in full he moaned to others that I didn’t pay him.

It was a slow build with the builder often doing half days. Build a base brick with a basic dirt floor then left for Xmas so 4 days of wet dirt and mess in the house. Outside of the porch looks good but there are issues on the inside the door and its frame is not fitted correctly and slopes so can't be closed easily, the window ledges aren't the same size both sides one is noticeably wider than the other and doesn't look right when decorated. They never filled any of the gaps between the wood support beam and windows, I removed a poorly cut board and above one window it was just a clear large gap all the way across. I had to fill it myself with expanding foam and filler. The rain proof flashing isn't sealed properly and its cone away from the wall.

Unfortunately for us, it was not made clear that both Skifter and Mo have full time day jobs that they fit this work around. Additionally for us, the constant debates about what is and is not included in the quote got tiresome.

BE AWARE!!! THIS COMPANY ARE CON MEN! THIS MAN TOOK MY DEPOSIT OF £250.00 THEN DISAPPEARED. THEN SENT HIS FATHER ANOTHER SIDNEY JONES. HE THREATENED ME THAT IF I DID NOT PAY THAT DAY THE WORK WOULD NOT BE DONE. THEN WHEN IT CAME TO DOING THE JOB THEY HAD NO EQUIPMENT OR MATERIALS. THEY DID NOT DO ANY GROUND WORKS AND THOUGHT THEY WOULD JUST POUR CONCRETE INTO MY GARDEN WITHOUT PREPARING THE GROUNDS. WHEN I SAID NO, THEY BECAME AGGRESSIVE. IT WAS A SMALL AREA OF 10ft x 7ft. THEY HAVE CREATED A HUGE BIRD BATH 10ft x 4ft. I REPORTED THIS TO THEM. SIDNEY JONES THE FATHER SAID HE WOULD ATTEND TODAY TO FIX IT. I DID NOT HAVE ANY CONFIDENCE THAT HE WOULD TURN UP AS HE PREVIOUSLY PROVED THAT WITH MORE THAN SIX MISSED APPOINTMENTS. HE HAS PROVEN TO BE UNTRUSTWORTHY & UNPROFESSIONAL. THEY HAVE CONTINUED TO IGNORE MY REQUESTS TO GET THIS MATTER RESOLVED. NOW THE LEGAL ACTION WILL COMMENCE!! SIDNEY JONES, BOB THE BUILDER HAS MORE QUALIFICATIONS!

From the first visit when they came to do a site overview to produce the quote they had warned me that there could be some unknowns once we demolish the existing lean-to as there were no registry or plans for how the sewage/water pipes went under the house. Other than the groundwork adaptations which incurred a bit of a cost increase Rowan's quote was adhered to to the penny, in fact, to get the foundations to not interfere with the pipes, my extension ended up being a couple feet bigger and this was not charged extra by Rowan. Scheduling wise, The demolition and extension rebuild to first fix was scheduled for 5 weeks, but I was so impressed with the work i decided to extend the contract all the way to second fix/finished extension - including decorations, all in all the whole project took about 8 weeks, which considering I kept them on till the decorating was finished is inline with the original schedule. I would like to particularly thank the guys who spent the longest on my site: James and Simon as they were very patient and informative and had to put up with my dog disturbing them the most, but also thank to Graeme, Cossie, Scarfy, Mick, Dave and John for all the work they did, and to Mike and David for coordinating the whole project. i would recommend Rowan to anyone that is looking for a 'one stop firm' to do a whole project without having any stress of managing it yourself, and most of all at a good price!

Hired Nathan to fit a shower and tile around it replace bath, toilet and sink. As soon as the shower was fitted and was told it was ok to use there was a leak underneath the bathtub which he was made aware of and supposedly fixed. After the job was finished we noticed water had started dripping through our living room ceiling downstairs, the toilet was also leaking and there is smell coming from it, it also wobbles as you sit down or gently touch it. He has been on more than 3 occasions to fix these issues but nothing has changed. We still cant use the shower/bath as it leaks onto the floorboard, the toilet leaks and wobbles. We initially agreed on the phone that we would get a quote from someone else to fix the issues which he would pay for but he is now going back on his word offering £100 for resealing with silicone ( Which he has done on all the occasions he has come to fix the leak and it hasn't helped) The bath is covered in silicone including around the shower screen which is very messy and still leaks. we have managed to get other quotes (which are more than £100) and have been informed nothing has been installed properly we were shown how the toilet/shower and bath are not properly attached to the wall. The surprising thing is Nathan didn't seem to know what was causing the leaks in the first place which make me doubt he is a plumber. We have been left with a toilet we cant use and a wet ceiling that we now need to have fixed. Surely this is not right?

Avoid this guy at all costs. Claims to have 30yrs experience behind him in the construction industry. This is not the case. He has no experience whatsoever. A DIY handyman would know more. Claims to have a a team of professional tradesmen, this again is untrue. He gets them through Gumtree and Mybuilder when required. Non of the tradesmen who he got for our project had ever worked for him before. They had no loyalties to him or ourselves. He was caught out telling lies to us and the tradesmen he employed. He actually told one of the tradesmen to tell us lies but that particular guy told us the truth and was honest. Unless you want a professional liar stay clear. Choose your tradesmen wisely.We were unfortunate!!

I'm a time served bricklayer (old school city&guilds) with over 30 years experience. I've worked on large scale housing sites but much prefer to do one off bespoke homes or extensions. I'm available now mainly for smaller jobs ;ie garden walls , repointing, single story extensions etc.
