When i was an apprentice working on site in the 70s and learning to bricklay i was fortunate to be in the company of true craftmen from all trades that worked for the same company as me (A Masons BLDRS).Most of them had worked all their lifes for masons and had a silver pocket watch for long service with the company.They demanded high quality work and would except nothing less,they would say to me,Bill build this wall like you would build it for mother.Today i still do every job as i would for my own mother who will be 72 this october
