Ashley text us to say he would be 2.5 hours late for the job which was frustrating. He then did not show, no text or call. Very disappointing and unprofessional and has left us in a very difficult situation with our project programming.

I hired Carl for a garden and patio project. He seemed confident and knowledgeable at first, and his team did do a good job with the initial garden clearance and preparation. Unfortunately, a couple of weeks in it became clear the rest of the work wasn’t up to standard. The paving was laid in the wrong pattern and sloped towards the house rather than into the garden as we had discussed. Many slabs could be lifted by hand, and the retaining wall was built with unsuitable materials. There were also delays with the slab delivery and confusion over the fence panels, and I often felt I had to keep chasing for updates. Carl blamed his bricklayer, who was really bad, but a good contractor should recognise and stop poor work. To his credit, Carl refunded all my money, as he knew I had to hire other contractors to sort this out. I could see he genuinely felt bad about how things turned out. He’s a nice guy, but the workmanship was poor and I couldn’t recommend him for this type of job.

I recently had extensive work completed in my flat by Vas, and I couldn’t be happier with the result. The service was excellent from start to finish. Not only was the quality of the work consistently high, but the whole experience was smooth and stress-free. What really stood out was Vas’s level of skill and versatility. Every aspect of the project was handled with care and professionalism — from plumbing and new water heating pipes, to new electrics, installing a new kitchen, laying a beautiful wooden floor, renovating the bathroom, and even replacing doors with a sliding door system. Where do you start to compliment this team of builders Neville/Bruce/Jonjo. They built a back garden wall 3-1/2 metres high by 4 metres wide to perfection. They turned up on time every day; never late. They worked non stop, no breaks and were knowledgeable in every area. 35 years as a brickie Neville knew exactly what he was doing and I will be telling my friends and family to hire him. I will personally wait for Neville to be available should I require building work in the future.

We hired Sam to build us some shelves and storage units in our two alcoves. He was very professional throughout and performed an excellent job whilst keep the house clean and tidy considering the weather conditions. He even assisted with extra design elements that were not part of the original scope. Overall the work was done on time, to the amount quoted and to a high standard. A very friendly and helpful service and always willing to go a step further than required. We would recommend Sam if you require any sort of carpentry assistance around your home.

Absolutely delighted with the work. We had some re-rendering done, pebble-dashing replaced, walls and tiles painted, and a leak fixed in the guttering as well as that being cleared out. Ashley kept us informed throughout the work, all his workers arrived as scheduled, were friendly and tidied everything away each day. Are discussing more work with Active and I'm sure we will employ them for that too.

Martin was in regular contact with me to arrange dates for the work, which was dictated by the weather and arrived on the days at the pre-arranged times. The guttering work was tricky, but Martin was able to recommend a workable solution. Martin and Phil were both very hard working and remained on the job to clean up afterwards. Overall a good experience with good results and would have no hesitation in recommending.
