Job: reinstall 1 blinds, and install 1 door handle, £100. Great if you’re looking to install venetian blinds onto a brick wall. Hoovered the dust directly whilst drilling which was appreciated! However, they did not have the tools needed to install the door handle/mortice lock, which was discussed before the appointment so I can only assume you were unprepared. They did not fulfil this task. I thought you were being polite by putting the old door handle back on as you failed to install the new one. I could have done that easily myself, for free, I only removed it to prepare for the job. Was not expecting to pay the £100 quoted just to put the old handle back on instead of a mortice lock handle. I’ve booked a locksmith and will have to pay more to complete a job I have essentially paid for already... In future, if you have not completed a task I would not charge the customer the full amount quoted, respectfully. You were polite despite this and clean, and as for the blinds the job done was satisfactory, well done! I also appreciate that you took a trip to screw fix to find a handle easier to install, even though you came back empty handed. A for effort. I’m not greatly concerned over the money, but thought it overall was unfair and a waste of time. I only paid as I felt sympathetic 2 tradesmen spent 3 hours installing 1 set of blinds, taking an unsuccessful trip to screw fix and fiddling around with a door handle. Thank you for installing the blinds though!

He truly showed professionalism that I had struggled as a guest house operator to get from handy people. He would go out of his way to satisfy. The finished redecorated room project was a masterpiece and took a little longer than planned because of the weather but he gave it his all! I am pleased I took a chance on him as there was no review on his profile when I hired him. I would however, pay attention to work and point out issues as they come up otherwise, you will have dirt and rubbish to content with as the workers leave all the mess after work.

Helpful, friendly and knowledgeable. Colin came up with 3 different designs for turning my (tiny) kitchen and dining room into one, despite there not being much room for manoeuvre. His recommendations and the rationale for them were very helpful, but he was also happy to work with my preferences. He clearly explained the process, helped find builders to shortlist, helped with the process and had a clear timetable to inspect and sign off works. He was also very quick to get back to me to help with any issues as the project progressed, even though my project was relatively tiny. And total transparency about costs from the start; what M&I quoted was exactly what I paid, despite the amount of hand-holding they did. I’d recommend Colin wholeheartedly.

The brief we gave was to get change of use on the site and planning for as many units as possible. It was a very difficult site with 11 party wall issues, a dangerous structure fronting a public highway. The whole process was dealt with very professionally and successfully. We were taken through the planning procedures and felt confident and comfortable throughout the process. I am delighted with the final plans and the achievements made by Ackroyd and Assocs.
