Bathroom Fitting

Full bathroom refit - correct order of doing things

Anonymous user 03/03/2024 - 2.54 PM

I'm looking to get a full bathroom refit (Bathroom suite, extractor fan, tiling and flooring). I'm happy to rip out all of the old bathroom, including the floor to ceiling tiles. Hopefully I can find a good tradesperson for the refit. What would be the correct order of doing the refit just so i know? Should the new flooring cover the whole floor? I'm also thinking of buying the bathroom suite and possibly the tiles and flooring off e-bay (new). Anyone else purchased from e-bay? I know it's a bit of a generic question, but hopefully someone can give me some ideas of what to expect. Thanks in advance Andy

Are you a tradesperson and able to answer this question?

Hi Andy firstly the pipework to the new fittings need to be adjusted (1st fix ) board out the whole of the floor with wpb plywood, make whole in wall for extractor fan, chase out and install wiring in wall up to fan & plaster in.now install the appliances which will be tiled on ( bath, shower tray ). then you can tile/grout the bathroom, lay the flooring (no need to lay the flooring under the bath just up to). Next you can start installing the rest (wc. basin, shower enclosure, shower screen, extractor fan, rad etc) known as 2nd fix, Finally install your sundries, and silicon all gaps around your fittings. HI. Your first step would to make sure you have all your suite, wastes, tiles etc. 1.Take out old suite. 2. Check plumbing is in correct place. 3. All walls are good to tile on. 4. Fitting of bath. 5 .All tiling. 6 Tiling of the floor up to bath edge. 6 fitting of the rest of suite. Hope this may help. Gary. please note bathrooms may require different look to yours.
