Is it best to use one or two coats of eggshell after undercoating? I am using Dulux trade oil based eggshell and have been told that only one coat is necessary but I think two would be better.

Hi,you can use 2 coats if you wish it's all dependant on whether you feel the first coat has done its job,ie coverage etc.
But I would say with Eggshell you do not need to undercoat has it is self undercoating paint.
Hope this helps.
Kind regards

2 coats is going to give you a more solid look to the overall finish... just remember to give it a light rub down with a 240 grit sandpaper between coats!

I have had good results applying extreme grip which is made by crown it is water based which will dry quick and enable you to apply a further coat in the same day it will provide a good key for the egshell to adher to

Yes you are correct without doubt. Applying 2 coats of the finish will give you a far better finish. Also the oil based eggshell is the correct choice other than the waterbased.

If you have already undercoated then one coat should be sufficient, but only you can be the judge of how it looks.
