Best solution for ceiling shower extractor fan with vent in roof?

Anonymous user 30 March 2014 - 11.24 AM

Hi I need to install an extractor fan in our shower cubicle but as its on the top floor it will need to go up through the ceiling and then through the loft space and out the slate roof. The fan kits only seem to have stuff for a vent going out an exterior wal and not a roof. What additional things will I need ,e.g. in-duct fan? Will any fan be suitable,e.g. Manrose Shower Light & Extractor Fan Kit 125mm from Screwfix? http://www.screwfix.com/p/manrose-shower-light-extractor-fan-kit-125mm/32488 OR Is it better to get a sparkie in to do the whole job?? Cheers.

any good builders/roofing merchants will have vents for a slate roof extractor fan.sorry to disagree with wiggles water works but venting an extractor fan through the roof is really an easy straight forward job for an experienced tradesman. good luck Alex

You may be able to route the ducting down between the roof trusses into the void by your soffits... drill a hole through that and connect up an outside vent... this saves the integrity of your roof, which really is a last resort. Or do you have a gable end you could cut a hole through?
