Fitting a new kitchen - would really appreciate some pointers
Anonymous user 23/02/2024 - 2.44 PM
We are buying a new place and the kitchen is awful. I like the look of Wren kitchens and they supposedly come with assembled cabinets, which should minimise the grief. They roughly quoted (for 12 cabinets) £2000 for dry fitting - meaning everything has to be prepared in advance (old kitchen taken away etc) and £850 for any electrics, plumbing etc. on top. The kitchen is very long and has a sink on one side and dishwasher and washing machine on another wall so I presume plumbing is already there and would not need much tweaking. We are planning to get the ceiling light replaced so happy to get a separate electrician to fit some stuff for cooker etc if needed (there is a gas hob there already so that should also not need doing) My question is; is £2000 reasonable for 12 already assembled cupboards? I would like to get a professional but I have dealt with big companies in the past and it did not convince me that they always get the best people for the job. How much should fitting a medium kitchen (12 cabinets, worktops, sink and hob/oven - no assembly) reasonably cost? I would also need someone to clear the old kitchen away and strip the walls of the ugly tiles and remove the rubbish and prepare the wall for tiling or painting. What are the rough prices for this? Any help would be greatly appreciated
