PIPE BLOCKAGE AND RADIATORS DON'T WORK

Anonymous user 28/02/2024 - 2.53 PM

We have two radiators in our house that don't work, we assume it is because the pipes are blocked. We have had power flush and have new Vaillant boiler installed. But when the power flush was done the radiators which are in adjoining rooms and share pipes started to work but they did not work the next day. The pipe in one room is warm while in the other room it is probably less than half warm. My plumber says that he may have to remove the pipes which are next to the radiators but also the ones in the floor above the room. This is where the pipes receive the hot water. I think the powerflush he did was for around 2 hrs and 40 mins and I think he should have spent around five hours or more on this as our system is over 20yrs old. I also believe he used cheaper chemicals with the powerflush although, I did buy fernox protector which he added. My plumber did try to clear the pipes by attaching the powerflush machine to the pipes that were blocked but it didn't make a difference. The system has improved but this is the last part that needs to be resolved. So am not sure what to do, I think it is possible to solve this problem without removing the pipes by using Fernox and have a powerflush but for a shorter period. The water is circulating around the system but not to the two radiators which are on the ground floor. I understand it may be difficult to give advice without having a look but any advice would be appreciated.

There is a chance that the valves on the radiators are damaged and by replacing them your problem may be rectified, it's not guaranteed but I have had this problem in the past with jobs and in most cases this has fixed the problem, valves are not expensive and can be picked up for a couple of quid each and can be replaced pretty quickly by a plumber.

before you buy new valves, close all other rads valves from both side and lean open these two rads open if they start getting warm than valves are ok its the balancing you need
