Problems with flooding/water run off

I'm having problems with water run off from a farmers field. In very heavy rain it's leading to flooding in my back garden, at some points up to 10inches!!! I'm just trying to weigh up my options of how best to tackle the job. Any help would be much appreciated as I'm only now sorting the gardens of my new house

Thanks

good morning , i am asuming the ground levels to your rear garden are lower than the adjacent field, and that the subsoil is clay based , is this a reccent ocurence, i would asume there would have been a problem for many years but you have only noticed it due to recent heavy rains, you need to approach the land owner in a friendly and polite manner to try and reah some common ground, but ultimately a land drain needs to be installed discharging either a pumped outfall or gravity into a water course of ditch , kind regards c.m read drainage & groundworks
