Gas Works

Central heating faulty & plumber won't repair his work!

Anonymous user 28/02/2024 - 2.52 PM

We had central heating installed last Sept and when we started using it a month or so later, there was loud knocking sound from several radiators, this usually happens when one is turned down a bit, the rest start banging. We called the plumber who fitted it And eventually he came out and had a look, he said it was something in one of the particular radiators which needed replacing (a valve maybe? I had just had a baby at this time so can't recall exactly!!). I did think this odd as all the radiators were making this banging noise but I'm not a plumber! He came back as replaced a part but the noise continued. Despite subsequent attempts to contact this man, he ignores all of our calls and texts. He was very ad hoc when he came to fit the heating (disappearing for days mid job, ignoring calls and texts to find out where je was, not turning up when he said he would etc), so we should have realised we would have problems but at the time it was fitted I was heavily pregnant and ww were very distracted! We are now left with a central heating system which make very loud banging noises which wake the whole house up at night, and no way of reaching this plumber! Any advice would be much appreciated! Many thanks

the water flowing through the thermostatic valves are flowing the wrong way through making a chattering sound as the valves are closing ,can be very loud.best to replace the valves with bi flow valves or change the flow and return pipes over

Get yourself a plumber with good feedback on here to take a look. The guy you used sounds like a complete idiot. If he came from here, leave his feedback to reflect the kind of tradesman he is.

will bet if you look in the back of the boiler manual were the bench mark is that by gas law has to be filled in and signed,it will be empty,if you can get his adress and or gassafe reg number and report him. it may not help you but these people need to be brought to book in a big way. they have a duty of care to there customer!!!!as for the banging etc,bad installation, crap workman, should not be allowed near anyone.kind regards tom clydebank plumbing&heating
