Pete was wonderful. He assessed the job within 24 hours of me posting it and gave us honest and useful advice. The job was nowhere as big as we'd originally thought - and probably no real test for Pete's masonary skills - nevertheless he was a true professional and carried out the job to the highest of standards. In the knowledge that our fire installation will be on a Monday, Pete even came out to do the job on the Sunday immediately prior - to ensure that we weren't left with a gaping hole in the fireplace for too long. A step that really was 'above and beyond'. I'm really happy to recommend his services to anyone requiring a stonemason. Pete is a true professional.

In 2006 I incorporated my company and have completed projects for many high profile main contractors including new Squash courts and Music School for Bloxham college independent school for J P Charles & Son Ltd overseen by Squires & Brown Architects of Cheshire. Sports & Social Club building for Wessex Timber Buildings Ltd plus contracts for Herald Build Ltd - London EC5.
Along side contracting work I have undertaken domestic projects - extensions etc which included project managing sub contractors and working with clients, architects & planning officials.
1999-2006 Proprietor, P. J Hawes (Contractors).
Managing extensive contracts from domestic to main Contractor on sites from home counties to Midlands. Main contractor for Cherwell Windows Ltd Banbury. Main brickwork contractor for new School in Headington for Benson Construction Ltd
1998-1999 Site Manager, George & Harding Ltd.
Independently ran prestigious site at large listed manor house in Warwickshire. Working to strict listing regulations. Including liaising with subcontractors, architects and clients.
1975-1994 Site Foreman, Gilkes & Ward Ltd
Whilst working as a site foreman, a broad range of problems were tackled, which developed my construction and managerial skills.
• Managing a team of 12+ bricklayers ensuring all current Health & Safety issues were adhered to.
• Responsible for the correct setting out of each plot
• Projects included - Construction of many housing estates including over 150 houses in Abingdon, Oxon
