I run a home improvements company that specialises in small to medium size jobs/contracts and covers a wide spectrum of work- basic build/install or start-to-finish(ie Planning/Building Warrants etc through to decoration). Business built strongly on recommendations.

Work History

I originally was a Civil Servant upon leaving school and this did give me an excellent grounding in the value of good paperwork/organizational skills and also working as part of a team.
From there I moved into sales with United Biscuits, firstly as a Merchandiser/Trainee Salesman rising quickly to Salesman then to Area Sales Trainer to National Sales Trainer and Relief Area Manager.
Next step was into the Home Improvements market, originally with C.R.Smith, progressing through to running the Conservatory division at Farleys in Edinburgh and lastly with P.M. Sinclair, where I learned a lot about the Building Industry in general.
Upon starting my own company,I have done a lot of varied work from fitting windows to kitchens to garden sheds to house renovations! I do consider the company to be very versatile in our work capability. However,I would not undertake a job which was outwith my remit and make a hash of it.

Qualifications & Accreditations

10 "O" Levels, 1 Higher grade, SHNC in Business Studies.
Member of Edinburgh Chamber of Commerce.
Member of Federation of Small Businesses. I am not a qualified tradesman but can do very basic jobs;what I do have is excellent tradesmen upon whom I can trust implicitly and do first-class work without any fuss or ado. I do know what is involved in any work I undertake and my main skill is in Project Managing the work. I am on site virtually every day and often get "my hands dirty" as the saying goes.
I work extremely hard on "The Personal Touch"- may sound a bit old & corny-but there is still a place for this today.
