I have been working within the stone industry for over 20 years. A few ago I became self-employed and am currently trading as Simply Stone.
I have over 20 years experience working in a variety of areas of stonemasonry, including quarried block cutting, CNC cutting and profiling, stone cleaning, fixing, restoration and architectural stone carving.
I have been involved with many prestigious projects around the country over the years.
These include ........Brecon Army Barracks,
Cardiff Crown Courts,
National Museum of Wales, Cardiff
Commonwealth War Graves Commission Memorial Cross
at Botley Cemetary Oxford,
Gloucester Quays Redevelopment,
Maesteg Town Hall
Oystermouth Castle Swansea,
..... to name a few.
Qualifications & Accreditations
I am a 'time served' mason who is now looking to progress into education to teach stonemasonry.
My qualifications include: NVQ Level 2 Stonemasonry (Bankermason)
Construction Skills Health and Safety Awareness
IOSH Managing Safely
ILM Train the Trainer
PTLLS - Preparing to Teach.
I am currently studying to acheive QCF (NVQ) Assessor Award before I move on to study for the PGCE/CertEd full teaching qualification.
I specialize in hand carving architectural masonry for both interior and exterior projects. I have experienced working at a senior level and been involved with several prestigious contracts around the South Wales area along with various smaller, domestic projects.
This, backed up with a City & Guilds/CITB qualification in Stonemasonry (Bankermason), attained at the City of Bath Technical College, makes me a very rare breed. I am currently establishing myself as a sole trader, striving for perfection/excellence on the projects with which I am involved.
