  The project involved the construction of a two storey stone extension to a listed building including an internal staircase, dressed stone surrounds and natural slate roof. All tradesmen were of a high standard and took pride in their work. The project over ran due to adverse soil conditions and bad weather both of which were accommodated by Hartley Construction (Robert Hartley) and every effort was made to minimise any increase in cost. Robert’s main strength is his team of direct employees and specialist subcontractors who worked very hard to ensure a successful outcome to this project.

Work History

I started work in the building trade at 16 years of age as an apprentice joiner whilst attending day release and night school, gaining an HNC in Building. At 23 years, I obtained employment as Site Manager for a large house-building company. With the latter experience acquired, I became self employed at the age of 30 forming my own company which now employs 4 time-served tradesmen and 6 specialist sub-contractors.
We carry out new build, extensions, alterations, refurbishment, repairs and maintainance for the domestic and commercial market.
Some recent jobs completed: -
Extension to listed vicarage. Refurbishment of pub. Installation of reinforced concrete bases to support silos. Extensions to several houses and numerous loft conversions.

Qualifications & Accreditations

The company is a member of the NHBC reg 37262, FMB reg 16413 and the Derbyshire Fair Trade Scheme. Personally, I hold an HNC qualification in bulding. CHAS certification for Health and Safety. We carry out a complete building service from ground works, foundations, brickwork, carpentry and joinery, roofing, plastering, electrical installation, plumbing, tiling, painting and decorating, fitted kitchens to landscape works.
