Acorn Joiners first opened for business in 1984, and has been serving Edinburgh and the Lothian area under the ownership of Grant Scobie ever since! We offer a full range of services, ranging from small domestic projects to major extension work.

We have known Grant for many years and have asked him to tackle a number of different tasks for us around the house. Recently, he entirely re-fitted our kitchen, which included lowering the ceiling, fitting new lighting, changing the layout, installing new appliances and renewing the flooring. In the past he has re-fitted the shower-room, bathroom and spare room for us. His work has always been of the highest standard and finished on time. He keeps in regular contact, so there have never been any surprises when it came to the final budget. Grant has many strengths including his attention to detail and his ability to give advice at the planning and design stages. We have no hesitation in recommending Grant to people seeking a reliable, versatile and skilled craftsman.

Work History
In my 28 years (and counting) of business I have worked primarily in the Edinburgh and Lothian area, doing extensions, attic conversions, kitchens, and bathrooms to name but a few. I work by the mantra that no piece of work is insignificant or too small, and therefore I happily welcome jobs of any size and scale.
Describing the work we have done in 28 years of business is tough, but for example I have done extensive work in the Old Town of Edinburgh rebuilding and renovating listed properties. We also did a large refurbishment of an old town house on Minto Street, which is now the large Strawberry Hill nursery. Furthermore we are responsible for a huge amount of attic conversion and extension work in my area - Colinton and Craiglockhart.
Acorn Builders are proudly a member of the Federation of Master Builders (FMB) and we have been for sometime. This is a testament to the honest, good work we have done over the past 3 decades.
Qualifications & Accreditations
All Acorn Joiners staff have gone through apprenticeships and have a good deal of working experience in the respective fields. Our Federation of Master Builders member number is - 31852. As previously mentioned we are skilled in every aspect of building and joinery, from large project management to kitchen design and fitting, from window installation to all types of flooring, solid surface work tops to wet rooms. We are happy to approach any type of construction need in a positive and industrious manner.
