The WRPS family team did a very good job were both really friendly and professional. Ours was a relatively small job, re-pointing a chimney, tidying up a pitched roof using mostly the original tiles and a couple of new ones and replacing the cracked concrete with lead flashing, plus a bit of additional pointing at the side of the house – they competed the job to a high standard at a competitive price and we are very happy to recommend them.

Damien and his team carried out a first class job on my roof, which was sadly collapsing. He turned up when he said he would to have a look at the job and provide a quote. I accepted the quote and a date for the work to be carried out was given. Damien and his team turned up on time every morning and worked all day. He would ring me daily with updates and photographs/videos of the progress of the work. He and his team were always polite, courteous and provided a fantastic service. The old roof was removed and disposed of in a timely manner. I would have no hesitation in using him again if the need arose and would certainly recommend him to others.

Spas is a great person to work with. We worked off lists that I made & completed everything well with his business partner in the time we had allowed. They completed a kitchen, a partial rewrire & added a new fuse board to my fathers house. All work was done well & they did a few extra jobs for me while they were there that we negotiated on site. Very straightforward person to work with, honest & works hard. I Will definitely work with Spas again..

I would say that the best products (in my view) are fibreglass or epdm. fibreglass can be manipulated and shaped better and comes in any colour (that said the norm is grey), the downside is has to be done correctly with quality materials (which can be substituted fir cheap products by some). 25 year guarantee. epdm is simply a rubber sheet stretched over the roof but money can be saved on replacing decking ( if sound / dry ). it can look very smart nut comes in black only. generally about the same cost as grp. 20 year guarantee felt is the cheapest option but degrades very quickly and has generally 10 years life. peoples perceptions to felt are often also negative as a cheap covering. brave to offer any guarantee over 10 years.

You would definately need to get a structural designer to look at the roof if you are proposing to add a staircase and also some sort of roof deck. i would guess that the origional roof joists would not be able to take the extra weight in a safe manner. the staircase would have to be fixed to the existing roof deck/joist and then weathered with the membrane that you would use on the main area. regarding the roof covering you can use a high performance single ply pvc roofing membrane to weather your roof. this can then be overlayed with either a timber decking or a paving slab on supoorts/pebbled finish. the decked area would obviously not be fixed through the roof membrane and just sit loose on top of the roof. the weight of the deck will hold it down.you would have to use a fleece filter/protection layer between the finished membrane and whatever roof deck finish that you fancied. this protects the waterproofing membrane from becoming damaged and also acts as a filtration layer for all the dirt that would accumulate under your deck. we are a registered contractor to supply such a membrane should you ever wish to go ahead with such an idea.

Since the 1st oct 2010 when more than 25% of any roof is removed.replaced, it is compulsory to upgrade your insulation to current goverment regulations 270mm it requires building regulations done on a builders notice. generally they will check at the start of the job and the end of the job you will then recieve paper work to confirm it is up to standard. should you not involve building regs, when you come to sell your new roof will not be acknowledged and may cause you a lot of extra expense and hassle to then get it passed, it may also invalidate your house insurance.
