Damp Proofing

Walls still damp 6 months after DPC fitted

Anonymous user 13 March 2024 - 2.32 PM

Hi, We had a chemical damp proof course injected about 7 months ago. They also did all plastering to thir required specification. 7 months later and our buyers surveyor is saying there are high meter readings in the walls. Is there any good explanation as to why this wouls be, or has the damp proof course just not worked? We don't have any other issues that would be causing the damp and use a dehumidifier so doubt its condensation. Would really appreciate your advice! Thanks

Hi there If the surveyor is finding high readings then either his equipment is faulty or the wrong render mix was used after injection, have the company return and check their work I presume you have guarantees if its not their fault their could be charges. regards Joseph

Possible causes are Plasterwork bridging to the floor behind skirting Incorrect integral waterproofer in render backing Incorrect plaster type If solid floors it may be floor edge moisture If it was done correctly the work should be guaranteed and therefore the company should come out and correct it or at very least explain what's going on .
