Fixing thin coat beads

Is it advisable to remove old wooden beads prior to fixing new metal thin coat beads for a room re skim ... Or will cracks appear

no need, they will also give the beads something to nail to

no they can be nailed directly on i have been doing this for 15 years and none haas cracked after plastering, although i use scrim tape over the beading edges after they have been put on.
