Velux window installation
A question about velux window installation;
I live on the first floor of a maisonette flat. There are stairs that lead from the upstairs, straight into the garden. The upper part of the stair case is inside the back wall of the main part of the house, the lower part is housed in an extended/lean-to building, which has a fully tiled roof. The pitch of the roof is approximately 30degrees
I am wondering if it would be possible to put a top hinged velux window into this lower part of the roof. The internal dimensions of the stair case are 710mm x 1150mm (approx). I was therefore thinking about a velux of 550x780mm or 550x980mm.
Would this be possible or are the internal dimensions of the stairs too small ?
Thanks in advance
It sounds very narrow but just about possible . Velux are simple to fit into the roof even retrospectively but you will need a good roofer / builder to do this work properly . Check out some good tradesmen with 100% positive feedback in your area from mybuilder & get the job measured & priced by at least 2 contractors. Contact the Local Authority to see if you need planning & Building Regulation Approval. , Approx cost should be £1000.00p plus vat , plus window.
