Painting new plaster

I have just had my hallway replastered and I have painted a Matt white coat over the plaster before I paint the walls magnolia, however I haven't watered the paint down. Does this matter?

It is always a good idea to thin your first coat down on bare plaster .It seals the plaster better and gives a better bonding for the top coat as well as allowing the second coat to be applied a lot easier as it does not soak straight into the plaster, leaving a better finish. Also if there are any irregularities in the plaster that may need filling you will be able to see these .Hope this answers your question.
