Closeboard fencing

Is it standard to concrete fence posts 6' apart for closeboard, or is it common to spread further to 9' apart.

Hi, there is a standard, BS1722, that covers fencing. posts should be no more than 3 metres (10ft) apart. I prefer to set them at 2.4m (8ft) and use 4.8m (16ft) rails. if your fence is to be 1.8m high (6ft) then dig square bottomed holes 650mm deep, put 50mm (2inches) of concrete in the bottom to seal the end of the post then concrete the post in so that it's 600mm (2ft) below ground level.
