Blue and orange flame on new gas hob

Anonymous user 21/01/2026 - 7.54 AM

I recently had a new gas hob fitted by a gas engineer I found on here. We have a blue and sparkles of orange flame on all 4 rings. I mentioned this to the gas engineer and sent him a pic and a video and he had said that it is normal. I would be grateful for a second opinion please as I do not want to put my family in danger. Thank you so much.

Could be ( since the pipework has been interrupted) some combustible micro particles in the gas pipe. If the air retention ports on the burner heads are hindered/partially blocked or not on properly or the burner caps not on properly, that could also cause incomplete combustion ( yellow flame ). Make sure you have a carbon monoxide detector in the room, check the above and leave the hobs on for 10 minutes; see if it burns off
