Expanding foam pipe blockage.

Anonymous user 9 March 2024 - 3.36 PM

The pipe under floorboards under kitchen sink is blocked by expanding foam.I have used sulphuric acid. This has made a small hole, so just keeps running through. How can I unblock the whole pipe? Thank-you, Chris.

with this stuff in your pipes the only thing you can do is change the pipes.

Hi Chris, thats a bit of a problem mate, how do you know it's expanding foam? Do you know where in the pipe it is ? when we sweep chimneys one of our sets of rods are very thin and flexible which we attach to a drill, if you can see the pipe outside you could cut it off and send some rods up it even drain rods if it's a straight run, have a think about trying something like that before you start ripping things apart, or see if you can a friendly chimney sweep who may give it a go, it wouid'nt need a brush on the rods ,the rods alone attacted to a drill should break it up if its not totaly blocked like you stated, it's the only thing I can think of that might work before you rip everything out, hope this helps regards kevin

Good answer probably will have to go this route but call good drainage Co they should have a root cutter that will chew through foam

You need to lift your floor boards and get to the pipe then cut the pipe and see what has black it. If you notice any blockage you can clear it easily but if you noticed it blocked with expanding foam you will need to change the whole pipe completely because you cannot able to clear expanding form from a laid down pipe easily.
