How to repair cracked rendered brick flower bed wall

Anonymous user 03/03/2024 - 3.46 PM

Hello I'd be very grateful for some advice on how to fix the vertical crack in my flower bed rendered ( sand / cement )brick wall. The crack runs vertically and is approximately 1 cm wide and extends about 10 cm into the wall, making it almost see-through. The issue with this crack is that it separates the main wall from the edge of the flower bed wall ( The detached edge measures 12 cm in length), suggesting that the edge of the wall needs some reinforcement and filling with masonry filler to prevent it from collapsing. I'm wondering which type of screws or anchors would be most suitable for this situation, and how many should be used, if any. The crack measures 50 cm in length. Additionally, I'm curious if Toupret masonry filler is suitable for addressing this kind of crack. Many thanks in advance

Would go with re doing the whole rending to prevent problems down the line and also Masonry filler would be fine to fill the gap 🙂

You could tie it in with Helicoil and resin. Gives a chemical bond. Check as well whether your mortar is a lime or cement mix. If the property has any age to it, it will be lime. Don't use cement.

The best way to solve would be to empty the border and apply two coats of tanking slurry to prevent water egress with channels installed to allow water to exit.then re rendering thanks
