Kitchen Fitting

Quartz worktop securing

Anonymous user 3 March 2024 - 3.46 PM

Want to check how quartz worktops are secured in place. I have an end panel on a small base unit on one sode of the range which I cut too short. I have secured it in place for the measuring but have now ordered a new end panel with the view of swapping over. However it looks like it won’t come in time before the quartz worktop fitting so seeing if the quartz is usually fixed to end panels or just the base unit top itself so could unscrew the end panel and fit the new one

The end panels are secured to the base panels usually behind door hinges so screws are not seen and another two screws at rear and not secured to worktops

Quartz or any other stone worktop is never screwed directly to base unit, panels ore anything else because timber and stone expand and contract at different rates. It’s the weight of the stone that holds it in place with dots of silicone if needed. The joints with be resined together. So ask the granite guys not to put silicone on the top of the end panel because your replacing it and all will be fine. As mentioned side panels are fixed to the unit not and the unit should be fixed to the wall.

Same as Andy above , base end panels are fixed to the base unit side not the worktop.

Leave the end panel for templating But it can be changed at any time after that
