Roofing problem or other ?????

last night rain started coming through my daughters bedroom above the window where the wall and ceiling meet. A horizontal crack has also appeared overnight. I am unsure if this is caused by a roofing problem or something else. I don't know if it is very serious or a common problem. I have emergency cover but do I call a builder or roofer? Is this an expensive job? Any advice would be gratefully appreciated.

It sounds like it could be your undertile felt which may be defective. It is common (especially on shallow pitched roofs) for wind driven rain to enter along this area. It may be wise to get the felt checked along the eaves and whilst the roofer is up there confirm that the gutters are not also causeing an overburden along the same location. At this time of year they may be blocked with leaf debris.

could be either.
Get the roofer to check that the felt hasn't perished going into the gutter and for broken / tiles.
if the window is on a gable end with brickwork pike above get a bricklayer round as the cavity tray above the window might have failed or you might not even have one
