Storey door frame

Anonymous user 9 March 2024 - 3.35 PM

Hi all, I've got I think there called storey door frames or borrowed light frames upstairs in my house. I'm wanting to know are these easy enough to have removed professionally without making a mess of the walls etc? I'm asking as I've just had a complete bathroom refit and now noticed one door frame is starting to break so I was thinking of having them all replaced at same time rather than just the one frame and probably the glass above them removed. Any advice would be great and help me massively before wasting people's time to come and look. If I could add a picture on here as an example i would.

Are you a tradesperson and able to answer this question?

Hi Alan, yes the frame can easily be removed, and if done carefully by the contractor there shouldn't be any damage to the walls that cant be covered up by the new frame.

Yes that is possible, even if the frame has been sunk into the wall next to it, it should be simple enough to remove.

Hi, Firstly interior doors have linings not frames. Answer to your question: depends on how they are fixed ie: old ones into brickwork may be double cut nailed into the brick work, into studwork they may be double screwed and plugged etc, there are many ways to fix a door lining. If you are not aware and go merrily ripping it out you will most certainly make a mess of the opening. Regards Norman Styles
