Dark mark on wall above plug socket?
Anonymous user 28 February 2024 - 4.07 PM
Hi,
I'm not sure if this is electrical in anyway, but thought I'd ask. I have a dark shadow mark on the wall about a foot above a plug socket - it's a pretty perfect circle which is odd, and I'm pretty sure it wasn't there a couple of days ago.
Is there anyway this could be related to the plug socket?
I don't think it's damp/moisture related but I could be wrong.
Thanks,
Dan
Are you a tradesperson and able to answer this question?
Hi Dan,
I would more than likely presume damp, however with it being above the socket I recommend getting it checked out. If it is damp it could be seeping down into the socket. PVC is primarily water-resistant, but it largely depends on how much time it stays in the wet.
By the sound of it is nothing to do with the socket. Also if the socket works you should be fain. If was something to do with the socket cables the RCD fuse will trip if is RCD protected.
Hi Dan,
As you mentioned it’s foot above the socket I presume it’s not that particular socket or ring wring issue if that socket on ring , have you got RCD protection on sockets then you don’t need to worry at all . It’s something else if I am not wrong
Thanks
