System Boiler Query
Anonymous user 23 February 2024 - 3.52 PM
At my property I have a system boiler. I am wondering if I should be leaving this on at the mains at all times, or should I just turn it on when hot water is needed?
This would only be for showers/taps as all my radiators are electric.
I am just trying to find a way to keep the bills down, and not too sure if this should be left on at all times or not.
Thank you!

It’s really down to each property… if there aren’t many occupants, then switching it on when needed could be cheaper, or if there are a few people then maybe keeping it on may would out better. They use more power heating from cold initially than maintaining the temperature once hot, is a good thing to consider also
Hi, if you want to reduce the bill, you need to install a programmer so that it turns on the boiler for example at 6 to warm up the tank for you to take a shower at 8 and then turn off during the day if you leave the home or not useing hot water that much and the hot water inside the tank is enough for you.
Keeping a hot water storage on for all day and night when you don't need will cost you much.
