transition between LVT herringbone floor and carpet runner stairs

Anonymous user 23 February 2024 - 3.51 PM

Hi, i am fitting a LVT Click style herringbone floor in my hallway, and want to put a carpet runner up my stairs, the bottom stair is curved at the edge. what is the beat way to make this transition, thinking about the LVT agains the bare curved step and the need for an expansion gap?

Are you a tradesperson and able to answer this question?

You just need to run the runner over the bull nose of step and down to floor to meet lvt

Hi. You could go for a matching colour mastic or matching colour binding to cover the expansion gap. Or, personally I would ditch the ‘click’ and go for glue down then you wouldn’t have to worry about any gaps and could cut straight to the skirtings. Hope this helps.

I will burn some beading round the bottom of the stairs so as to leave the gap still or you can put some silicon around the bottom
