How can I find what is causing the wind issue?
Anonymous user 3 March 2024 - 3.44 PM
Ever since we moved into this home 3 years ago, when any light wind blows, we can hear loud wind noise in the bedrooms on the 1st floor, which sounds like it is coming from the roof/loft.
I have been to the loft when this is happening and I can never hear the noise there. It can only be heard on the 1st floor. We have a pitched roof, with a chimney. The roof has had some sort insulation (poorly done) and the combi boiler is also there, which was done right after we moved in, but the noise could be heard before.
I've literally tried to look everywhere in the loft and can't hear anything. There are places where I can feel a draught but no noise so I am not sure what I can do next.
Your advice is appreciated.
Are you a tradesperson and able to answer this question?
If you have an ally way between your houses then it will be the wind resinating between the two wall almost like blowing over the top of a bottle if this is not the case then please feel free to take a video and send it to me via my email shauncole4422@gmail.com and some photos of the building please
Hi, I've heard of this before. Obviously every house has its different sounds but it could be the arial pole outside vibrating in the wind. This could transfer the noise though the brick work making it sound like it's coming from the loft.
Have you had the window seals checked the noise may not be from the roof area I've attended jobs where everyone thought the problem was with the roof when infact it was a window problem the slightest breeze can increase the noise through a small void
