2 downstairs fireplaces, unused one smoke

I live in a victorian terraced house, the living room fireplace was swept by a professional and we use that one. However now getting smoke from unused dining room fireplace.

brickwork between the two chimney flues has failed allowing smoke from one to the other, you should get the chimney you use lined.

At the top of the chimney stack it is divided by bricks called ‘feathers ‘ the mortar on these becomes ‘ dust ‘ and leaks , or the bricks fall out with sweeping . Yes first answer is correct , line chimney , or check / rebuild the top ( much bigger job )

The mid feather brick work or morter joints are decaying, if you still want to use chimney, you will need a flue liner installed
