Can I replace bath mixer tap that is in the middle against a solid wall? Access at one emd only

Anonymous user 23 February 2024 - 3.49 PM

Hi, I have a dripping bath tap that needs replacing (it's corroding too). It's located in the middle of the bath against a solid brick wall. I have access at one end and it looks like they used flexible hose. I'm not sure if they fitted the tap and then the bath, or other way round. Should this be doable with access only at one end? Maybe it needs a special tool... Thanks Ed (South London)

We carry a 22mm tap spanner to remove back nuts, but if it’s out of reach I would disconnect the bath and slide it forward,to get at the taps, the flexible connections shoud enable you the space to move it forward, to dismantle, when you refit test before you fit

Yesterday i had a job with taps on the middle of the bah and access on one side only. It was hard to rich both flexi pipes to disconnect them but done in the end. Bath was connected to the wall no way to pull the bath out with out removing first layer of tiles on top of the bath ,lift up the bath then pull out .

If you can see the nuts on the back of the taps, fixing it to the bath then they can be changed without de-installing the bath. If you cant see them its a bath out job. Good luck
