We have used leyland and it does dry white, but we swear by Johnson's paint now. For a bright white.

That paint takes a while to dry, but should give a white finish. Apply 2 coats. As it is an Eggshell paint it is self undercoating and since it is an oil based paint you shouldn't need an undercoat. If you are painting Eggshell over Gloss rub down woodwork with 120 grit sand paper to give a key. This product has quite a shine to it, wouldn't necessarily recommend for a proper eggshell finish.

Needs a good stir up or it’s the wrong colour even the mixing machines sometimes put the wrong colours in

Northern Decorating Services answer is that Leyland paint is a trade paint and is an off white to make applying easier and to prevent misses.also add a bit thinners to make application easier.McPherson’s paint in our opinion is the best and we’ve been using it now for over 30 years.

Always show dark when you apply but when getting dry probably get more lightly if not try second coat or use dulex diamond egg shell. Regards
