Fitting cement backer boards to uneven brick surface

Anonymous user 16 March 2024 - 2.48 PM

I’m currently doing my fire place, I have kicked out the bricks and now wondering the best way to fix my cement backer boards ready for tiling, I have read a lot and the obvious thing to do is plugs and screws but this isn’t possible as it is half bricks and not an even surface to fix to

Are you a tradesperson and able to answer this question?

Hi Harry, for me the kicking out of the old bricks and adding cement boards is just not enough information for anyone to help! for me personally, and as part of this building community I feel we would need a very specific detailed picture " in greater detail in words would be a start" I'm sure that's what any of us tradesmen would need and agree to get you any advice you could use. eg log burner? open Fire? Gas fire? fire place that's decretive? ventilation only! you may need a registered fitter, this is so shy on info H good luck. Rob www.bpmcornwall.com
