Combine solar panel with new roof?

Anonymous user 23/02/2024 - 3.48 PM

I have a couple of small but very sunny rooves that will need replacing at some point in the next few years. (we have already had, and fixed, issues with another one). I am also keen to get solar panels fitted. I read somewhere that solar panels could be integrated into roof tiles instead of put on top - is this true, is it preferable and if so what should I be searching for? Is it a roofer or a renewable energy supplier that would do this work? Or is the best option panels on top of roof tiles and keep the jobs separate? I am a newbie to all this. thanks!

Are you a tradesperson and able to answer this question?

yes you can integrate the solar panels into the roof, or you can run them on rails which ever is your preference,

Hi If your roof may need replacement in the next few years, replace it now before solar panels as in my experience it causes nothing but issues in the future. Kind regards Mike

You can have an integrated system fitted and a lot of new builds have this system. For the solar panel installation you will need to use a MCS registered contractor and then a roofer for the rest of the roof installation.
