Sanitary pipework building regs breach?

Anonymous user 16 March 2024 - 2.47 PM

Help! Hi, My builder has taken a pipe from a kitchen sink and dishwasher out of our new kitchen extension and just planted it into the ground. The pipe (white, which I'm sure is for indoor use) goes into the ground on the border with my neighbour and then bends 45 degrees into the neighbour's garden about a foot underground. The waste water just flows into a handful of gravel and falls down the side of the foundations of both houses (semi). I'm assuming aside from the trespass issue, this isn't right on any level, hygiene, smell, and water coming back into the house. Is this a serious breach of regs? He's obviously tried to hide it and hasn't submitted photographic evidence to the approved inspector. Any info would be much appreciated.

if you are having plumbing work carried out always use a qualified plumber, the white pipe can be used outside, yes this would be in breach of building regulations and also possibly public health regulations.

Kitchen waste water or grey water should never go to a soak away this should be connected to the sewer The white pipe can go through the wall as long as it goes directly to the sewer pipe which would be sealed or gully pot

Number 1, The builder who did this isn't a builder, but is a cowboy. The drainage should be 110mm under ground drainage pipework which should come into the property up under the floor if possible. This would allow the plumber to connect his pipework for the machines to it. The 110mm pipework should leave the building under the ground and bedded in shingle to a manhole before turning the waste water in any direction, this then should be linked into the foul waste pipework on the property. Once this work has been completed, it should tested and inspected.

I've seen some people answer white pipe can be used outside. This is actually incorrect. It degrades in sunlight so it should be black.
