Hi No MDF is medium density fibre board. Not good for getting wet or splashed unless very well protected. Melamine board is the same as your kitchen carcas. chipboard faced with melamine surface can come in different colour also called furniture board. no need for decoration. Hope this helps.

Melamine board is usually chipboard, but melamine is the surface finish and can also be found on MDF but is much more expensive than chipboard melamine

Melamine board is on a chipboard core and you have to watch when you are cutting it due to raw edges. I am not sure whether you can get mdf board whith a white finish but this would give a better cut finish for a diy job.

Melamine is a particle board faced with paper that has been impregnated with melamine resin. It is is perfect for shelves and cabinets as it can be wiped clean very easily and provides an aesthetically pleasing finish and can be purchased in different colours. It can also be purchased with various different cores as only the laminate is actually melamine. Chipboard being the most common but can also be purchased with melamine faced on MDF core.
