Adding a switch

Anonymous user 23 February 2024 - 3.47 PM

Recently had worktop fitters in and they've left the on off switch for the boiler below the worktops with the wire running up to the boiler still accessible. Is it possible to just add another on off switch to the cable a the one below is switched on so the boilers working or do I have to cut into the side of a cabinet to undo the cables, feed up and reattach te switch?

I have to see the location,if the location is safe and doesn’t have any water leaking, yes you can add one spur switch on accessible location, Note:you have to check the boiler power and use the proper fuse for spur switch, normally 3amp fuse

Sounds delightful. I would get an electrician in to do it properly.

It is possible to add another spur in, however, all switches should be accessible for maintenance and testing purposes so it shouldn’t really be boxed in behind a worktop or unit. Ideally, you should have an electrician carry out the necessary work.
