Gas Works

Chimneybreast I have gas fire

Anonymous user 9 March 2024 - 3.28 PM

My Neighbour wants more room in his loft. I have a gas fire and use the chimney. He says you can put a new metal flue in down to mine from the top of the roof so the chimney can be removed. Can this be done?? And is it safe to do so.? Thankyou

I very much doubt your neighbour knows what hes talking about..tell him no unless it specifically says you could do such an arrangement in the manufacture instructions which is highly unlikely

Hello knowing what I do about chimneys if it was my house I would never agree to it even if he got permission. where would your flue pipe go? it would still have to run in the space occupied by the current chimney. Pointless. 🙂

Chimney can be removed but have to follow building regulation So in case to remove has to be inspected by Certified structure engineer. Need permission form Local authority.
