Plaster on chimney breast not drying

Anonymous user 1 March 2024 - 2.58 PM

Had the walls reskimmed in march. The plaster on the chimney breast isn’t drying. Using a dehumidifier the patches faded but returned and have very slowly grown over time. They don’t appear to get larger faster when it rains. Any advice appreciated.

If downstairs it's probably rising damp. If Upstairs try putting cowles on the pots.

you most likely have a leak in your chimney, could be a numbers of different reasons, get a roofer/builder to take a look, very unlikely to be rising damp

With the winds we've had recently its probably water coming in from chimney so check that chimney isn't damaged
