Fix to a screw protruding through fibreglass re-roof

Anonymous user 28/02/2024 - 4.04 PM

I waited 6 months to have a protruding screw removed from fibreglass re-roof work done on my property. I don't seem to be able to post a photo on this forum though to describe the fix it looks as though grey resin has been poured into the hole left by the removed screw. The resin is not flush with the rest of the roof. There is a hole left by the screw and there is resin down the hole though it is not smooth. I have been assured that it will be 'fine' because 'the resin will have sunk down and sealed it'. Is this approach to the fix a reasonable one? Thanks for any advice.

Yeh shud be fine. If you get problems grind out a square around hole back to all most board so you get a key to stick a patch over it ( fibar tape “resign & then top coat it.

I would have removed the screw, sanded down an area of 300mm square around the hole. Then cleaned the area with acetone and treated the area as a new roof. First applied resin , then fibreglass matting, more resin and and agitate with the metal roller. Once cured applied new top coat resin to fully cover the patch .
