Make a wall edge straight
Anonymous user 01/03/2024 - 2.57 PM
How would I make a wall edge straight in the UK, and what price to expect to pay to get someone to do it? I have no idea how they would do it. The wall edge is a 90 degree angle (front facing wall and then side wall). It is not straight and goes further in towards the bottom, gradually, about 0.5 - 1cm out compared to the top. I can't add a photo here there is no option. If more wall is added towards the bottom of the edge of the wall, then I think the skirting board wouldn't be right and will need replacing both sides too? How would they put more wall on, or take wall off, is it a case of plastering 0.5 - 1cm onto the existing wall, but would that hold on especially on the edge of the wall, in a crisp edge? The wall is in a rented property which behind it is outside, not another room, so I assume behind it is studwork and then brick. I'm no builder so please explain in very very basic terms and suggest the rough cost to get someone to do it. Many thanks Hi Bp plastering (below), thanks, that still goes over my head lol. What price and how long would you suggest that takes? Can they really add on such a small amount and it still be even, and does the side wall need plastering and skirting on both walls need ripping out and new ones put in to blend it in and make it look right? BP plastering - thanks for the extra info. What about touching the skirting and side wall? Because the skirting corner won't be in line when the wall come out a bit? BP plastering - thanks, what if I'm way out and its more like 1? It's hard to tell just looking at it, and I don't have a long level to guage how much it's out by. I think 0.5cm was maybe just hopeful. I know that looking at the skirting is going to bother me because the wall will be covering it as opposed to the skirting on the wall, and also the skirting corner where the wall joins it will no longer line up. I wish I could add a photo to explain!! Would you be able to take some of the existing plaster off because that would make it more straight first? Going straight in with a product over the top leaves less room for my table and chairs next to the wall. Again wish I could add photos!
