we had a single storey extension built last year and after about three months had damp patches near the velux. The builder came out, i think he put some more "tarry stuff" outside by the velux channels and said it was sorted. Everything seemed ok for about another three months and we then had more patches appear, worse than the first time but i also think we had a lot more rain. The second repair was done and about a month later we had two more patches appear at the bottom right of the velux and half way up on the left hand side. we've been told it can only be porous brickwork on the original house that is finding its way into the extension and making its way to the velux. The outside bricks dont look damp and there doesn't seem to be anything obvious mortar wise. i'm unsure but if this was the case would we not set damp between the old and new build near the lintel . We had no issues with damp before the extension was done. I think the pitch is about 30 degrees and the original property is about 45 years . The window is sloped and inside it is about a foot away from the lintel .It is raised compared to the rest of the ceiling internally (the recess it sits in inside is about 12 inches)
