Damp Proofing

Shed Close to a house

Anonymous user 23 February 2024 - 3.46 PM

Hi there. We have a 3 m long and 1.5m high shed down the side of our detached house (built 2015). There is a clearance of around 2-3cm between the shed and the brickwork of the house. Will this cause an issue with damp in the house? Many thanks!

You don’t mention if shed roof water could run down the house wall . The low temperature of in the gap between the shed and the house could cause a low temperature inside the house if the walls are not sufficiently insulated. Otherwise, it shouldn’t be a problem .

Not ideal amount of air flow gap but I doubt it will cause a damp issue ,

Too close, water and damp issues will arise over time. Would definitely consider getting the shed moved.

So long as the water is running away from the house and the minimal amount that will fall down can soak away it should not cause any damp issues
