Ceiling lamp holder pin is stuck?

Anonymous user 9 March 2024 - 3.27 PM

Hello, Total layperson here... one of the pins of my ceiling lampholder is stuck pressed in. New bulbs aren't connecting. Can I just use some pliers to try to pull it out? I'm a bit scared I'll fry myself! Thanks SQ

Turn the main switch off on the consumer unit for total reassurance everything is isolated then try it. However, if its a ceiling rose and pendant then they are a couple of pounds to buy. Might be a better solution to replace it.

If you’re not 100% confident just call a professional in. It’ll take all of 10 minutes to replace and give the property a few rudimentary safety inspections.

I wouldn’t touch it or even try to ‘repair’ it if I was you. Best to get a new lamp holder put on as it sounds like it’s due to be replaced.

Personally I would call a electrician at most it’s going to cost £50 I expect the original lamp holder has been in for many years so it’s served it’s purpose always good practice to maintain electrical equipment around the home safety first be safe 👍 Kind regards Epms
