Half a ring is working?

Anonymous user 3 March 2024 - 3.41 PM

One of our light rings tripped: it controls the lights in three rooms and the hall. I turned the switch back on at the fuse box, and only two rooms are working. Now the fuse switch is on and one room and the hall have working lights and two rooms have no working lights (I have checked the bulbs in these rooms and at least some are working).

Are you a tradesperson and able to answer this question?

Lighting is never on a ‘ring’ it’s loop in loop out usually. Impossible to diagnose remotely, safe to say a break has occurred between the lights that are working and the ones that are not. An electrician would find this in no time.

It sounds like a loose wire in one of the lights in question. This is quite common causing one or more lights to fail

An electrician should be able to diagnose the fault by testing the circuit may be a loose connection within the lighting loop on line or neutral should be an easy diagnosis for someone that nos what they are doing

You should get a local electrician to find the fault
